Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
It was a pretty meek surrender by the team today, for mine the turning point was when we got the penalty, mason took it upon himself to take the tap when fitzy wanted the 2 points, the knock on the next tackle started the rot.
We saw the NSW half back today and he wasnt wearing red, white and blue.
A very ordinary performance from the bench players, with no impact from any of them.
A short turn around is a worry this week also

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
After that embarrassing defeat against what I think is a very average Newcastle outfit, next game against the Dragons on Anzac Day looms as another difficult encounter.
Don't get too carried away with the Red V's poor performances because come April 25th they will give it everything they have and the Roosters better come prepared to play for 80 minutes.
Mr. Fittler has to start making some hard decisions.
Use that credit Freddy and have a chat to Gus, he'll tell you who to punt.

Up til now their defense has been quite solid. I'm like thinking like you that there is real limits in offense, imagination and creativity on the 5th seem shallow. I think talent is there, Sa is the X factor, Kenny still worries me.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Too much reliance on the bomb. There needs to be some creativity.
Today, direction was lacking, very sleepy around the rucks letting Newcastle make easy metres. And very poor ball security. Not a game we should have lost. Fitzy and Shiilo were great and Sammy as usual is a more than able replacement.

Transfer Pearce to Souths Cause he\'s got NO BRAINS!!
I don't care where you throw him but toss Mitchell Pearce out on his arse to another code or South Sydney. That was uncalled for, irresponsible and just plain stupid. All he had to do was play safety first and put the ball over the line and we were home and hosed.
Typical 2007 Roosters. Typical error ridden Roosters. Typical stupid ball handling Roosters. Typical Rooster 2007 team putting pressure on themselves again and again. Typical one half score Roosters. Typical rubbish backline that can't score unless it's a piggy back from penalties or a dropped high ball. Have we actually got a backline????? Get a REAL BACKLINE that can attack not punks like Pearce who rely completely on high balls and the other side dropping the ball. That's dreaming and the Roosters better get some fire in their attack or they won't even make the eight.
Of course I'm furious about losing because we had it WON until a complete IDIOT called PEARCE handed the game to the Knights on a silver platter when we were ahead. Send idiots like that to South Sydney. What a complete and utter, stupid, irresponsible punk not finding touch at such a very, very crucial point in the game!!! Pearce you've got no class, no talent and no BRAINS. We had this game won until Pearce got a hold of the ball. Forget about Origin for the entire century mate! You've got the brains of a pea!!
Can this team score without a bomb??? What talent does this team have if it is always relying on piggybacks from penalties and dropped high balls to score?? Aren't we able to penetrate a line at all? Kicking is ok to a point but we are relying toally on kicking to score tries and it didn't work in the 2nd half did it? This is a side that is basically the same as last year but has had luck from a few high kicks and a strong defense. Later on in the season we can look forward to thrashings if that's all the ammo we've got!! This is not Aussie Rules but the Roosters are sure playing the game like it is and it won't work forever as teams learn how to deal with these archaic tactics.

Roosters Vs Knights
That performance was absolutely disgraceful. I mean how could we lose that game when we had a gale behind us but yet still we spent 75% of the second half in our own half. The bad players - J.Aubossen (some passes out of dummy half were hopeless ie one pass when we were 3 metres out - straight to Frank Pauls feet), L.Paea (feel sorry for the guy as i think when he was on the field we were defending the whole time. The good players - Fitzy (his usual best with 40 tackles when everybody else just seemed to stand around waiting for him to make the tackle), Shills - (made 150 metres and was very good in defence).
Also i have no idea in what freddy sees in riley brown. He may as well just get out a deck chair and watch the game on the hill.
On a positive note we have the hapless dragons next week. I think well smash em but then again thats what i thought would happed today.

Worrying story in the Tele:

You have probably seen it, I would hope its well out of order. Doesnt make a lot of sense anyway, I mean why toss O'Meley if we signed him for a long contract and he's played a handful of games ? There are salary cap pressures sure, but this just seems incredible.
I hope this is just the media trying to find something to write about.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
I think the saying 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' applies here so we can have this forum be EXACTLY the same as the old forum by only having ONE thread here that's all. No need for separate threads for upcoming games or games won because in the old forum we didn't need it and it worked beautifully.
Just keep the one Roosters thread which will replace the old forum and everyone will be able to follow everything as well as post in real time.
I also wonder whether the colours of the old forum were preferred.

I interviewed Artie on A view from the hill today and he gave his opinions why he boycotted it
I respect him for his choice
To interview him for the 20 mins or so we had him on air was awesome

I think maybe Artie will live to regret his boycott as you say Ken it wasn't the right time or place for his protest. Also unfortunately it isnt going to change any thing. Heard Ron Coote on 2KY & he said how disappointed he was that Artie wasn't there.
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Certainly confusing re: Sa. I thought the news was that he was out for a month !
Lets hope its not another case of an injury that needs a major operation that he'll carry through the season.
Unless a player is firing on all cylinders its best not to carry him around like Anasta a couple of seasons ago.
Get it over and done with.
At least that's my opinion.
Maybe the shortage of quality backs is forcing the issue !

Ken Jones,
100 % what you just said about Big Artie and Craig Fitzgibbon.
Shame the real Ken Jones didn't have the same intelligence when it came to player retentions etc !!

Fitzy
If Fitsy is forced to retire, and wants to stay involved somehow, I hope the club can find some sort of position for him. Our club cannot afford to let men like Fitsy leave the club, when a position could be filled by him. I see him being a very good coach down thew track, or maybe even in footy management. Regards......Ken Jones
classy centre
I agreee there is a shortage of centre available on the open market.Maybe Freddie should entice his good mate Ryan Cross to have another run with us ! I'm sure uncle Nick will forgive and forget if Freddie desperately wants him !
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
thanks Pezza....would be good to see one or two ....come through to firsts.
But that would mean injury or us playing bad !

Like Simon Bonetti, got the flick and retired, loyal to the Roosters and would not consider playing for anyone else. As to what Freddy has done, just look at home Fitzy has stepped up this year. If it is the job of the coach to get the best out of the players, then Freddy is doing this way beyond his experience.
Toups and Fitzy
Geez I hope Toups stays. It's been like a breath of fesh air to hear him saying he loves the place and also Fitzy saying that he would not play for another NRL team. Speaks volumes for what Freddy's done for the place.........also shows in the way we're defending our goal line - superb. I don't know that we'll win the com (fingers crossed) but we certainly won't be disgraced which is a big improvement on the past two seasons. I may even get over the nightmares about Brookvale Oval........
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
the team is doing well and is a serious contender if we are lucky with injuries.
the main issues seem to be:
riley brown...just doesn't seem to be 1st grade material, very slow and all over the place at times.
mitch aubusson...i just don't understand him in the centres, there is talk of him in our backrow in the future but i wouldn't bank on that either.
so that is 2 position that are weak when compared to the quality of the rest of the team.
the other thing is because our forwards are considered our strength they seem to be handed way too much of the workload. and we seem to have a few set plays which we are always going to. i would like to see the ball going through the hands of our backline, i think they can do a good enough job.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
we have come up against the two best teams in the NYC on their day in Penrith and Canterbury
I believe the three top teams according to people in the know are the eels, panthers and dogs
The second tier teams is where we seemed to be ranked
Players in the backs to watch for include: Winstertien, Jones and Cronin

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
How's that eh ?
Sa and Shrek out this week.
Mason and Shillington back in to replace them.
Is this team awesome or what ?
.... well now it looks like they've made miraculous recoveries and are in as well.
These guys walk on water !!!!!

Mini obviously needs to put his health as a top priority. His retirement would be a real blow to all roosters supporters. Back problems are always so tricky and obviously being belted evey week would only make things worse. Yes there was only one Mini and what a pleasure it was to see him play, to run into holes, carve up the opposition and be so safe at fullback.
We will miss him, though hopefully he will stay at the club in some capacity as he would be an asset.
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
The imminent announcement of Minichello's retirement will not only be a body blow for the Roosters, but for League in general. His condition is serious and with the pain, not discomfort he experienced in his last outing affecting his mobility, it's unfortunately exit stage left.
The possibility of further damage and restricited movement really only adds to one scenario.
I have to disagree with Stan's assessment that Perret, even though he is performing admirably and will only get better, there will only ever be one MINI.
I had mentioned last year that his career was on the precipice and as it stands, his impending and premature retirement is looming near.
Shame.

From Stan
It'a amazing how many Easts supporters there are. They seem to pop up from all over the place. And they all seem to be Greek!!
I came across this bloke on Sunday morning where i get my coffee/latte and we got talking. Came about that he is a fanatical Easts fan and is close mates with some existing coaching staff and Co. Stuff he was saying and people he knew put me to shame. This is the upshot of the discussion.
Sa will move to the forwards in the future. He was marked for that position.
Get used to not seeing Mini. Possibly for good.
It seems what the Tsar has to say has some credence .
Personally, this is how i see it. I am not fussed over the potential loss of Mini.
I said to Eric that the person in our team, from 1-17, who has that x factor and is truly a star is Sa. He possesses exceptional talent, maturity for his age and freaky ability. A keeper. Perret has shown that he can handle fullback and will only get better.

If Toups does leave, while that would be a shame, we have alot of up and coming young forwards in the club, who will do the job for us. What we need is a Greg Ingliss, he would be senseational in our backline, I'am not sure what his contractual situation with the Storm is, failing that, I cant see, or know of any aussie centre's becoming available for next season, maybe Adrian Morley can find us a good one over in the UK. A quality centre is our only weakness, and sooner or later it will come back to bite us on the bum. I'am sure our new talent finder is on the job, and will come up with somebody for us. Congrats to the whole team, they are doing everything asked of them, you cant ask for more then that.regards to you all........Ken.
