Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Anyone catch Mr. Fittler's post-match comments after the Dragons debacle.
Not only are we a laughing stock on the field at the moment but also endeavouring to become one off the field.
A double act of stupidity and embarrassement.
I know he ain't no road scholar but his facial expressions mirrored the teams efforts over the last 2 weeks.
Moronic.
Charlie,
The truth is out there, but don't expect any sensible answers from the coach.

Yes, I have often thought the same, ANZ looks stupid with 20k fans in the place. I am from the old school, I like Belmore, Pratten Park (prior to Lidcombe Oval), Jubilee and Leichhardt. These grounds had atmosphere, although in some cases not really up to scratch, Pratten Park is a case in point.
If you want atmosphere, you dont put a few fans into an olympic stadium, looks bad for TV, bad for the players and takes the game from grass root supporters.
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Pearce is clearly struggling to cope with the pressure and after that nightmare penalty kick against the Knights failing to find touch he played without any confidence at all this week and I think needs a stint in a lower grade to try and get his confidence back. The problem is when he's quiet so is the rest of the team so his performance this week really slowed us all down. He needs more time to get used to the pressure and needs to mature a lot more before becoming a regular first grader.
A lot of other players like Amos, SKD and Perrett are just not reliable with the ball and more often than not make a mistake which puts our entire team under so much pressure that we never seem to be able to recover. These players also are renowned for stupid mistakes resulting in bombing certain tries. They are just not the real deal and I see no reason for persevering with them. We've had them and their mistake ridden games for many seasons now and we are none the better off for having them in our side. Get rid of them to Stuart if possible.
Mason, Fitzgibbon, Myles, O'Meley, Anasta are trying very hard and talented but not getting backup from the rest. ALso, in all fairness we need to give the Aubussons more time to settle down but not forever. However, players we have given a fair go for years who are still fumbling and bumbling and error prone and mistake ridden should be p....ed off in my view and we should look elsewhere for more competent and reliable players. Why keep players who can't score unless you put a bomb up to the moon and then only 6 points in 3 halves of footy??

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
In the first set of 6 where we had the ball, I knew we were going to lose, in fact the first hit up. The game had only just started but they looked either disinterested or tired. There was no hunger in the players eyes or movements, the likes of what we saw in the opening rounds. The talent is there, need more work in the motivation.
Ben Jones
Ok, both of our hookers/dummy halves, have failed to come up trumps for us. Our quickness out of dummy half is the worst in the comp, and some of the passes served up from them, wouldnt hit a barn door from 6 foot away. Ben Jones must be picked as Hooker next game, he is the next big thing to happen to league, he has all the skills. lso securing Michael Ennis , who is off contract at the end of this year, has now become a priority, and he kicks goals as well. I suggested many months ago, we should of signed Luke Burt from parramatta, he covers every position in the backline, kicks goals, and has been Parra's best player by a country mile this year. Why Mitchell Pearce refuses to take the line on, is really making it easy for the opposition defence to work him out. Thank god for the bye next week, but on current form , we are no specials to get the 2 points there either. Too much newspaper reading, and not enough hard work, happening, Freddy bring back the booze, that ban is killing us.regards to all.......Ken Jones

tarnish their chances at the selection table????
Tupou's safe because he's Stuart's 'darling' and the deal done with the Sharks no doubt had an unspoken clause that he'd be in the Centenary side? I'll be very surprised if he's not because Stuart will have a very big say.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
This article just shows how much our 'star' players give a stuff about their own team.
Sydney Roosters players fear a two-game losing streak against lowly opposition could cost them individually when selectors sit down to pick Australian and NSW City and Country teams on Sunday.
The Roosters' head-turning start to the year had thrust Braith Anasta, Mitchell Pearce, Nate Myles and Anthony Tupou into representative calculations alongside Test incumbent Willie Mason.
But Friday's 26-6 loss to 15th placed St George Illawarra at ANZ Stadium followed last week's limp 34-20 defeat to Newcastle and the Roosters are concerned the results may tarnish their chances at the selection table.
"It just sucks that we've lost the last couple of games and the emphasis has been on losing games and not on how good we're playing individually," said Mason.
Anasta had been applying considerable heat for a Test return at five-eighth regardless of Kangaroos skipper Darren Lockyer's fitness, but he believes his name is now more likely to be included in the City Origin side rather than the Australian.
"It would have been good to get a win today just to put a bit of heat on there," said Anasta.
"If (Lockyer) pulls through the game and has a blinder then there is no doubt they will pick him.
"I don't think I played bad today. At the moment I'm really confident when I get the ball and feel I can create opportunities.
"I feel like I have my best footy ahead of me."
Prop Myles and backrower Tupou were bolters for bench positions for Australia, but now are at long odds to force their way into the green and gold.
Queenslander Myles turned in his worst game of the year against the Dragons, just five hit-ups for 60 metres.
While Tupou was dangerous - scoring the Roosters' only try - and busy in defence, he is up against a long list of in-form backrowers like Gold Coast's Anthony Laffranchi and Melbourne's Ryan Hoffman who are playing for winning teams.
Mason couldn't impose himself on Friday's clash either and while he doesn't fear his Test position is under threat yet, he knows the competition for NSW State of Origin positions is going to be tougher than ever.
"Everyone is under the pump," said Mason.
"They're usually pretty loyal with their selections but I think last year they took a bit of a gamble with Australia and NSW to blood some young kids up and you have to be on your game all the time. You just can't lose three or four in a row.
"We've lost two and everyone is playing pretty well at the moment so no-one has really played themselves out of teams.
"(But) when we lose everyone is down and thinking the worst, like rep teams are coming up and we might miss out and all this kind of garbage.
"(Selectors) do go with their incumbents and stuff so you have to be playing out of your skin like Billy Slater is.
"But definitely the World Cup at the end of the year, a lot of players in our team might be in there."
Anasta and coach Brad Fittler meanwhile threw their support behind Pearce to be named City halfback, ahead of Brisbane's Peter Wallace and Manly's Matt Orford.
Anasta toured with the Kangaroos when he was just 19 and believes Pearce, who is currently 19, has the maturity to step up to the next level.
"If he gets picked it wouldn't come as a shock to me," he said.
"Being thrown amongst the wolves early can be a positive or a negative, you know. You will either be a superstar or straight out the back door.
"He will get there at some stage and do a good job when he gets there."

Pathetic!
That "performance" today was as bad as any I have seen in the last few years.
How in the hell could we get thumped (& thumped easily) by a team as pathetic (formwise) as the DragQueens???
I am a very proud Roosters supporter , but that today was just deadset rubbish.
I wont be wasting any more of my money attending games this year if this is the crap these blokes are going to start dishing out week in,week out.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Bombs are all a matter of luck and so you can beat some of the top sides if the 'bounce of the ball' goes your way and yet lose to the cellar dwellers if the bounce of the ball does not go your way.
Our game is being read easily and we are getting thrashed every week now even by the lowest sides. Not looking good at all.
Tactics of bombing will work some days getting us a win and other days won't work and we'll get thrashed. It's all luck dependent so expect a lot of inconsistency from this side because bombs play out differently with each kick, each match, each week.
All our wins so far have relied on a lucky bounce from bombs accompanied with a brutal defense but the forwards just can't keep up the intensity week in week out so we're now getting thrashed and have only score 6 points in 3 halves of football because the bounce from most of our recent kicks went against us. We have had no other plan, no other tactic but luck so I say our wins were basically luck driven.

I heard the game at work, second half and could not believe there wasnt an error. I havent seen the game, but please dont tell me we pinned all our hopes on just bombs......again.
I have read the posts here and am very alarmed to think some of the coaching staff have time to be laughing, it's not an under 6 game.
We have had some pretty impressive wins thus far, I cant believe we fluked them. I also dont think the wodden spoon is even in the calculations. Obviously though something needs to be done to improve our attack and needs to be sorted sharpish. I will be real interested in seeing the game.

Well said Horrie, I watched the game at work today and I am F@$^king filthy at that pathetic display, Mason, Fitzy and Paea are the only ones I would give a decent pass mark to.
This game was over at the 4 min mark of the first half
The question has to be asked about the coaching ability of Freddy right now, on a greasy surface we bombed and bombed and bombed all day, not one kick on the ground.
One out runs from dummy half, very one dimensioned football and bomb on the 5th tackle, brilliant if you are playing mod league.
Our forwards were smashed by a pack that had only won one game all year, you watch the dragons will be soft again in their next game, we made them look like the greatest pack in the world.
Before the season I predicted that we would be a team that would struggle to score points, against a poor souths we looked like champions, too bad we dont play them each week, although on our last two games they would beat us also.
Finally on the tv when they were waiting for the Shillington no try they flashed up to the coaches box and showed Adrain Lam laughing in the coaching box, I have a question too ask
Was he laughing because of:
A) We were getting belted on the score board
B) One of our players was hurt and had a dislocated finger which came up clearly on the box and he was in pain
C) Our under 20 team are playing that good that he is in cruise control mode
I wish I knew what the joke was because I can guarentee you this, that whilst watching the crap dished out last week and this week, I was not laughing.
Perret, Kenny Dowell, Solia, Anasta, O'Meally, Mason, Paea, Fitzy, Tuopo are all internationals
Myles has played state of origin
There are teams with half the talent that our team can boast, and I guarentee you that they would not of turned it up like our team did today
Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Well everyone, we are back to our bumbling, fumbling, mistake ridden, losing best.
This is the SAME Rooster side of previous years. Hopeless, hapless, bumbling, fumbling. What has changed? 2 coaches and we still can't play ball. As long as you have players like Amos, SKD and Perrett in your side not to mention some other players who are experts at throwing stupid passes, giving away STUPID penalties making stupid mistakes we will never be a force.
I'm beginning to think that our earlier wins were flukes because at season opening teams are never on their game and fitness is also an issue but we have now lost to two of the dregs sides.
Six points in 3 halves of football? This is 2006/7 all over again. Forget aout the Roosters for 2008. I agree we're the great pretenders. We fluked a couple of wins against a couple of top sides early in the season but now sides can read our one dimensional game we're a pushover for even the lowest sides in the competition. This year is a fight to avoid the wooden spoon not to go after the premiership. This is not a first grade side.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
The dragons desperation as well as Gasnier could get them over the line today. The dragons have too much to play for and too much to lose to come out second best. An upset is on the cards if we can't handle the ball. Ball Discipline is an absolute MUST if we are to win.

Yes quite true, though Cartwright has some pretty handy players as does Freddy.
I will always be grateful for 2002, and even for how Sticky turned things around at Bondi. Then there was GF issues and odd decisions and then 2006 & 7, two years I'd really rather forget in terms of the Roosters. Enough said.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Tupou leaving is hardly a major concern guys. Since 04, we have seen a patchy player whose best and worste are too far apart! When on, he is an amazing running forward with wonderful offloading ability. When off, he is error prone and frustrating to watch. The club has not erred in allowing him to leave. Yes ladies and gentleman....we allowed him to leave And rightly so! The value we attached to him in the context of the talent coming through at our club was less than what Supercoach attached to him. The talent of SA is incredible. He can play before or through the line and is a natural footballer. He will slot into the backrow and can no longer be held back. Sa or Tupou? I take SA. Mason or Tupou? I take Mason! My mail is in any case strong that we are looking at a lock that will more than compensate the loss of Tupou. He will come cheaper than $400K and is a better overall player.

It's also interesting that since his assistant during our times of success is doing a wonderful job coaching the Titans. His sides win or lose by a few points each week because he plays a non adventurous, low risk style of game that keeps contests tight. He is truly an imposter!
