Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Great win tonight against a very determined Coyboy outfit. It was a big test of mental agility because the Cowboys really wanted to win badly. They were no pushover and we had to really assert ourselves mentally to get the win.
Reloschmlation!!!!
We get 20 thou to a game and all of a sudden we have to move!!!!!
Piss off!!
The reason crowds are crap for so many games is because who cares about Cowboys,Titans etc.... I love watching us play Parra,Souths. and clubs i grew up hating...
It's not our fault we play games against generic-no history-no personality-no character clubs.
I'm fed up with all this Sydney club rationalisation- no Roosters no me following League!!!

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
It is on good authority, and those who have followed my past postings on matters concerning the club should obviously take heed, that Mr. Fittler has poured a great deal of his financial savings into, whilst at this moment yet to be disclosed, a business venture in the vincinity of Gosford or thereabouts.
Stan, for just plain kicks, paint it black for the folk in your neck of the woods go slightly crazy-eyed at any colour darker than white. Pure white that is.
If we can't get over the Cowboys on Saturday night, then we'll just be nuisance value come September. That's nuisance value to both the Storm and the Sea Eagles.

Would you much prefer to see the team go under all together? I think not.
This is the central point. A really couldnt stomach a merger, to me we lose something, whereas our team still with its original colours and name I would prefer. Yes the area might change, difficult, but I could learn to live with that. Central coast would be way better than Perth or some other far flung place.
Return Serve
Firtsy Salvatore, you are right, the merger with Souths would be a good fit, but as you said it would never happen, too many years of fueding, to let that happen. As was obvoius with the Manly / North Sydney experience.
As for Roosterdude, that attitude, while noble in mind, does also show me that you are only seeing things in a perfect world, with minimun thought to the realities, that face the code, and in particular, our great club.
Anyway time will tell, one wat or the other. Regards to all........Ken Jones.

Chachi will always love Jonie.
I would rather see a merger with my most hated team, Souths, than a move to the Central Coast.
I mean, I grew up in Maroubra and now live in Botany, and I'd love these areas to be part of Roosterdom. Imagine all of the home-grown talent we'd be able to nurture, and the crowds would be big.
It's a good fit, really. Two proud, old stalwarts combining to dominate the comp for years to come. We'd be representing Rugby League's roots, and would become a middle-finger thrust firmly up News Limited's arse.
Unfortunately, this merger wouldn't happen. The two clubs wouldn't go there, I'd wager.

Apparently, the league have offered around 12 million dollars for a club to make the move, after the success of the Titans, and picking up a very strong junior league competition, I cant see a down side, if it means the great club staying afloat. Ken, I hope your comments dont get you flamed as what you are saying is very important and needs reasoned consideration. Like you I having been thinking about this and would be in favour to ensure the long term continuation of the tricolours.
I was born in the eastern suburbs, I no longer live in the area. I supported the side as a kid when it was eastern suburb, or just easts. Then the Sydney roosters, so its just a geographical area. I can cope a change of geography much better than a dreaded merger. There is a lot to be said about going to the central coast, like $8million and staying alive as our own single club.
I know a lot of people could kneejerk and say no way. But before the idea is dismissed think about the future. There seems to be a push (not from the NRL) to reduce the Sydney teams by merger or simple extermination, in order to expand the game. Should that trend continue, other teams will probably shoot for the Central Coast. I think we should move before there is a stampede.

Dont know about all of you guys, But Im more nervous about the Cowboys match then I was about the Manly game.
At leaset against Manly, we all knew they were going to show up. They had stacks of motivation.
This game is REALLY important for us to keep up with the top 4, and I just hope thye show up for the full 80 minutes on Saturday.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
Now for the salary cap. Who's the salary cap supposed to actually benefit? We are TOLD by the NRL that it keeps teams afloat and makes the competition fairer and tighter (something they can do with their corrupt referees anyway) yet where does all the money they make go? Does it go back into the game - the players? NO! Do you or I see it? We are charged a small fortune to attend a game aren't we? So they are raking in the money ripping off fans and mass media and nobody gets a decent cut except who?
The NRL is nothing but a front for a monopoly on Rugby League takings and monies and should be DISBANDED altogether and a system of profit sharing set up where profits filter down to players and clubs. If the game makes more money or profit the players/clubs all have a share so clubs will NOT DISAPPER as Gallop suggested nor monopolise like his cronies are doing right now. In professional sport financial incentives are a must and profit sharing is the way to go. Many businesses now employing profit sharing where employees get a cut of the profits never experience strikes. In the same manner Rugby League would not have players leaving for greener grasses if they could share in what is currently a MONOPOLY held by a few individuals under the guise of NRL.
All Gallop and his cronies are worried about is losing their monopoly on the takings of Rugby League. They want to OWN the game and it's takings and use the most ludicrous reasoning for keeping the salary cap so much that most have fallen for it hook, line and sinker. The salary cap may be good for Gallop and his cronies but a lot of clubs are losing top players because of it's restrictions. The only people who really and truly gain from the NRL salary cap is French Rugby and the UK Rugby League as well as other organisations who will feel encouraged to come and poach our very unhappy players who are told how much they can and cannot earn like in a police or communist state. Where is freedom of choice? Where are the rights of the worker? SBW highlighted this issue that players are being restricted from making the money they're worth and that's why we're losing players and the issue won't go away until Gallop and CO are disbanded and a fairer profit sharing system set up.

SBW... News from France...so many to blame!!!
hello all roosters fans. i am currently overseas at the moment that is part of the reason the chooks are doing so well this year. my last year overseas backpacking we won the comp so really i should go away more often for all of us.
i have been in france now for a few weeks and I must say i can understand why SBW would leave. come on would you rather live on the french med as a millionaire (paying half the tax) or in belmore on a few hundred grand...granted he lives in maroubra but has to spend most of his time at belmore and for a few million euro i would pack up out of coogee too. Plus he would have to work about half as hard for 3+ times the cash!
All in all i think the NRL has it wrong for having a huge go at SBW, yes he is breaking a contract, nothing new in rugby league, see super league war. Really the NRL should be asking questions of 4 parties: 1. the Bulldogs for creating a situation that SBW wanted to flee from, 2. The Media, esp the Tele for the same reason, and 3. the NRL itself for being so narrow minded and short sighted to not see this coming by thinking they were the premier football code in the world (i loved gould have a go at gallop you News Ltd stooge!!!). And lastly blame must go to his manager, Nasser or whomever it is today, to negotiate a 5 year deal, not a 2 year with option or to atleast give him some sort of get out/release option this poor deal gave SBW no other option but to run away. That said at least Soloman ran away after a the pleasure machine!
Anyway my main point is that here in france the news of SBW is no where to be seen, shows how small time he is on a global scale and would be one of the reasons he would want to come here, to stay out of the Telegraph's photo lense.
SBW is an much a victim of the bulldogs, the media, his manager and the NRLs incompetence as they are of his breaking of a contract.

Re: THE ROOSTERS TEAM COMMENTS THREAD
One word on French Rugby.
It's time to start competing financially as a code or for the NRL to get blown off the park by our counterparts overseas!!
If SBW was offered twice or even 3 times what he's getting from the Bulldogs he'd be mad not to take it contract or no contract. He should have first tried to negotiate a get out but if the NRL won't allow players to earn more then they are fully entitled to look elsewhere for the best offer they can get once they are off contract or better still sign shorter contracts in case they receive an offer too good to refuse.
A lot of players are very unhappy with the NRL's stance so expect more to go until they come to their senses that if a professional player can get 3 million why should he stay in the NRL? It's very simple. Compete or go to the dogs because no player in his right mind who has a family to look after is going to put loyalty to his club and fans above income to his family or for his future. Players have to think for their future and their families if they have kids. We often overlook that. They are often forced to take what they are offered but if opportunities open overseas they shouldn't be expected to put us fans or their club first but go for it.
Breaking contract is a bit extreme but I think SBW didn't really want to sign but realised it too late and wanted out. In this case, he should apologise, return and the Dogs should release him from it as he is not happy to play for them. But it should all be done in the right spirit. If it was the Roosters I don't think we would force a player against his will to play for us. If he really is unhappy then the Dogs should release him but not until he does the right thing by them first.

Manly game

I understand that prepurchase will always be cheaper but both prices I mentioned were walk up prices. Just seems wrong that other teams supporters pay less than our supporters at our home game.

I think Willie is in a holding pattern at present, if Money Bill Willimas gets away with it, then he will be off also, if money Bill fails, then Willie will come out and say his heart is with the chooks etc and was never interested in going to France

Freddie's genious in getting Rooster greats to support players
How smart is Freddie to get some of the Rooster greats to come in and give their support to the players. I believe there were quite a few of the 2002 Grand Final players like Bonetti and Phillips who were there both in the sheds before the game and in the line up as they ran out onto the field at the start of the game. You would want to do them proud now wouldn't you. Good move also for Freddie to put Amos back on the wing and Perrett at fullback. Both had much better games there.
Good onya Freddie, keep up the good work and ideas!

SBW's departure
GUILT!
Every time he looks at his 2004 Premiership ring, he can't live with himself, knowing he's playing in a rigged comp. That guilt is why Sonny-Bill left.
Well done, Chooks! Now stay in the top 4!

manly game
It would appear that our team has something in common with our supporters - they only turn up for the big games! I was quietly confident going into yesterdays game and it turned out to be well founded. After scoring the first try early on we were never going to lose. Also, the U20's had laid the foundation for an afternoon of redemption by actually winning a game. Well done boys. Strange game though. The crowd seemed very subdued throughout the game and while there were some big hits the overall intensity of the game didn't seem that high. It almost as if the Easts crowd were expecting manly to come back and beat us? Still - any win against manly in recent times is good win.
Now to the bad stuff. I went to the game with a mate who had to line up for tickets. No problem with that as the ticketing que moved quite quickly. However, he had two choices: he could pay $20 to sit in the away team supporters bay or $28 for general admission aywhere else. So, it's cheaper for a manly supporter to attend our home game than it is for an Easts supporter. WTF is that? Am I the only one who thinks that this is wrong?

The Manly Game
A good win yes, but dont get over excited, Manly were terrible, and wirhout their second row pairing, their go forward was vastly reduced, but we'll take the 2 points, and hopefully build some momentum heading towards the finals. Some points I took out of the game were......
1, Cherrington a real prospect, but has to learn to protect the ball more in a carry, and sloppy play the balls are costly, when you get penalised for them.
2. Masons best game for a long time, would still like to see him deeper in attack.
3. We need James Aub back asap.
4. Our goal line defence was alot better, still more work to be done in that area however.
On another matter, Mini is looking like a too expensive risk to keep carrying, as hard as it is, I'd say goodbye to him at the end of the year, and free up some dollars to buy some attacking backs.Regards to all....Ken Jones.

Proud of the win today. We did a Manly on Manly!!
Stan you are right!! To hope to see players using their nouse is a bit too much to ask sometimes but we definitely outsmarted Manly today and proved they are no superteam. On our day we can beat anyone.
Again thanks to FREDDY for getting the tactics and gameplan right.
